Version 1.3 is out!
A few new features, adjustments, and bug fixes! Feedback is appreciated, especially as I experiment with values and features to see if they improve the game or not.
V.1.3 - Updated 1/16/23
Resolution slider - adjust this slider to balance between the best background graphics and minimal lag. Use the left and right arrow keys to adjust the value.
- Altered help screen to include resolution bar instructions
- GUI scaling is no longer dependent on resolution - this wasn't noticeable in previous versions as there was no way to change the resolution, but the code has still been changed
GUI Updated
- The resource bar now has a label and resource count displayed. It's no longer a secret that you need exactly 10 little yellow crumbs to get a new flock member :)
- New font! It is called Unispace, and can be found here: https://www.dafont.com/unispace.font. If the font fails to load, the default font will be loaded and still work.
- Flocks and resources are now properly drawn underneath the GUI. Additionally, they can now be seen beneath the pause menu (rather than disappearing).
- The GUI text positioning was altered slightly
Dash!
- The flock's "dash" ability (newly named) now has a cool down and a limited amount of time it can be used. If you attempt to use it before it refills completely, it will deplete faster. Under 25%, and you have to wait for it to get back above 25% before you can use it at all.
- Adjusted flocking variables again to make the dash more interesting. The player's flock now condenses faster when dashing, and it will receive a small speed boost.
- A smaller bar exists to indicate the dash cooldown, above the resource bar
- "Total time dashing" statistic added
- The dash keybind has been changed to left click, rather than SPACE. SPACE is now used to unpause the game. 'E' is still the key to pause it.
- Larger flocks cannot dash as long as smaller ones. You need that extra energy to manage your members and take care of everyone! Keep this in mind when attempting to run away from other flocks.
The timer has been adjusted
- The timer statistic now only shows up to one hundredth of a second, rather than one thousandth
- The timer is shown in MM:SS:00 format, and the statistics page shows time and dash time in "M minute(s), S.0 second(s)" format
And that's about it for this version! Again, feedback is appreciated. I have plenty more ideas of what to add to this game so expect more updates soon, and I'm always open to suggestions ^.^
